In this week's battle report its Highlander Tau Empire vs. Fluff Chaos Space Marines.

The highlander format essentially makes all unit entries 0-1/unique, with a few exceptions (you can see an earlier highlander batrep I did here, and also an article on ToF describing basic highlander rules here). Its a fun twist on the standard FoC, and is gaining momentum across the US. So, this week, I decided to see how my highlander Tau fared against a more conventional force.

Check out the plastic carnage in the video below!

Overall, it was a fun game that really (in my opinion) came down to deployment. I simply had too much time to pick away at his assault-oriented list. That, combined with a few unlucky rolls quickly added up to a Tau victory.

Check out my youtube channel covering Tau, Tyranids, and Blood Angels tactica, battle reports, and hobby. There's also a little bit of Wood Elves sprinkled in there for good measure and for those of us who enjoy right angles on our bases.

  1. I soooo hate Tau and how Tau players play. Sit on own deplyment zone and just be there the whole game... but if that makes u win the game thats fine. the reason i hate playing against Tau is that there is this Tau player i hate to play against and reason is that he refuse to play maelstorm missions and last time i said to him i refuse to play eternal crusade mission and then he was like ''okay lets not play then'' and i just said ''ok lets play eternal crusade''... i just wanted to play that night and there was no1 else to play whit so i had to play agains him.

    1. Yeah, gunline tau isn't necessarily the most exciting to play against. As for the issue with maelstrom, it sounds like he just doesn't want to play a game where he's at a disadvantage, which isn't cool.

  2. Nice BR - but what happened to the squad of kroot and the Maulerfriend? The MF seemed to run up the centre, took out the riptide then just stoped for the rest of the game? That's every Tau players nightmare :-P

Also Eskoleipa, it sounds like you've had a bad experience with tau players, whilst I do play sit back and shoot at times (let's face it they arnt going to win in any combat) my farsight/devilfish lists are very mobile.

    1. The maulerfiend was wrecked, so thats why it was just hanging out. The kroot just came in at the end of the game and didn't do much.
